Leave a Legacy

Even though your face might never be as known as Walt Disney's, Disney is still giving you one final chance to Leave a Legacy at WDW's Epcot. HURRY, because according to laughingplace, Epcot is discontinuing the sales of legacy tiles on JUNE 16th, so buy yours today!

In Disney Channel news... the brand spankin' new DCOM, Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board is officially OPEN! Click on the photo below to visit the site where you can view exclusive behind the scenes video blogs and photos, play games, take quizzes, give shoutouts, learn about dirtbiking, and more! (A little tidbit I noticed: the new DCOM has Johnny's last name as Kapahala... but in his last DCOM, Johnny Tsunami, his last name was spelled Kapahaala *notice the extra A?*)

Did you ever want to see HIGH SCHOOL MUSICALon BROADWAY? Well... here's your chance.. (KIND OF...) You see, Paul Cozby wrote his very own play with the same name... "High School Musical" before the Disney Channel made their own movie into an international hit! However, because theatres might not be able to afford a license to Disney's HSM, they are turning to Cozby's piece to get in on the action. (I'm sure you heard of this incident in the past, but if you haven't...) When asked about Cozby's views on Disney' HSM:

"'I was just very surprised,' he said. 'The plot elements are just very similar. If you put the two works side by side, the similarities are remarkable — obviously beginning with the title.'

Cozby's lawyer, Charles Baker of the Houston firm Porter & Hedges LLC, told Playbill.com that Cozby has filed suit against Disney Enterprises, 'claiming they stole his idea, claiming they infringed upon his trademark title [and] seeking damages and seeking an injunction" against the use of the title by Disney and, essentially, the continuation of the property.'"

Dreams Come True...?

Last night, I had a dream that while I was on vacation on a cruise, during our welcome dinner, Ashley Tisdale came out and sang her single, "Be Good To Me". After the show, I ran up to her and told her that I blog about her and I'm a huge fan, and then we took pictures together, became best friends, and then she gave me a job at Disney. Yes, people, dreams DO come true.. but I'm not sure this one will... so in saying that, I must keep the post short today so I can finally finish my Disney applications.

For any of you flying into Orlando, Florida, keep your eyes peeled for the new Star Wars ads that are posted around the airport in order to advertise the Stars Wars Weekends (for four consecutive weekends between June 1 to June 24), at Disney's MGM studios. Zanessa vs Jashley

While my bf's away at his best friend's graduation party... it's time to give in to that inner-(gossip)-girl and give you this tiny juicy update:

For a while, there has been speculation as to who Ashley Tisdale is dating. Rumors of a Zashley (Zac Efron/Ashley Tisdale) hook-up were shattered when photos and reports surfaced of an actual Zanessa (Zac Efron/Vanessa Hudgens) pair... but hsmusicalweb.org recently uncovered photos of Ashley and her "Be Good To Me" back up dancer, Jared Murillo walking around in Argentina! (ohh... so THAT's the Jared she's talking to in her youtube videos!) Here are a couple of pictures of them out on the town ... Say hello to... Jashley!! (p.s. I want her cap collection! Her outfits are SO casually adorrable! ... and that boy on her arm ain't that shabby either!)

[source]

P.S. If you love Ashley's casual chic style just as much as I do, check out my Ashley Tisdale's Style blog post from a few days ago!

Anyhoo... enough acting like a gossip blog. (I just looked up synonyms for "gossip" on thesaurus.com and one of the results said "scandalmonger"... hahaha- boy! does that make me feel horrible!) But then again, if it's true, it's not gossip... right? But yeah, enough of that- the next post, I swear, won't have any "scandalmongering"!

Update: I found the hat Ashley's wearing in these pictures!

Click on the photo to buy it online from hollister!

MOVING ON! ... As most of you know, today is the day Pirates of the Caribbean 3 is holding its WORLD PREMIERE at Disneyland. You can head on over to laughingplace.com to see pictures being streamed LIVE from someone out on the red carpet via cell phone! Click on the photo to head on over NOW!

Pick up your very own issue of CosmoGirl! which is out on stands NOW... remember, our very own High School Musical Hottie, Zac Efron has a four page spread in this month's issue. To check out high quality scans from zac-e.com, click on the photo below!

[source]

update: I picked up a copy of the new issue... it's actually a two page spread with a two page poster on the back of the spread... not the four pages they advertised it to be!

Sorry for the slow news day, I'll update later if I hear anything new... as for tonight on DISNEY at THE MOVIES @ 9PM ET/PT:

Starring Phil of the Future's Ricky Ullman! It's a pretty cool/fun movie- you should see it if you haven't yet... but if not, click here for the complete Disney Channel TV listing.

Barbies, Pixar, and Hair- Oh my!

Do you want the Best of Both Worlds? Well, you can go buy it in stores around the nation, today!! According to modest miley, TWO different HANNAH MONTANA Barbie dolls are on sale NOW!! (Okay, so maybe it's not the best of BOTH worlds since they're Hannah, not Miley, dolls!! But her clothes are just SO cute!)

[source]

IF you're 21, or older, head on over to UpComingPixar to find out more information on how YOU can check out the new movie, RATATOUILLE before it even hits theatres!!!!

"There will be a pre-release screening of Ratatouille at Pixar, where the proceeds will go to the Emery Ed Fund.

The screening will take place at Pixar on Friday the 8th of June, starting at 6:00pm. Tickets are $250 per person, but there are only 235 seats available. All guests must be 21 years of age or older."

[source]

Speaking of PIXAR, you can now pre-order Pixar's "biography" (if you will), on amazon.com! (The book's actual release date is October 25th of this year). To Infinity and Beyond!: The Story of Pixar Animation Studios is co-authored by Karen Paiks ana Leslie Iwerks. HMMM... IWERKS...?? ... sound familiar?? That's right- Leslie is the grandaughter of UB IWERKS, one of Walt Disney's partners in crime when the Disney Company was just starting up! In fact, even before the existence of The Walt Disney Company, UB and Walt started their own cartoon studio, Iwerks-Disney. (But that's the biography of DISNEY, not PIXAR!) The PIXAR biography includes a foreward from John Lasseter, Steve Jobs, and Ed Catmull. BUT BEWARE, this book is slighlty PRICEY at $51.00... click on the photo below to pre-order your very own copy today!

Can't wait for HAIRSPRAY to come out? Well, MTV is now advertising that they will be showing a SNEAK PEEK of the upcoming movie, starring ZAC EFRON, on Wednesday (May 23) @ 11 PM ET/PT!!

Is watching Zac on Oprah just not exciting enough for you? Well then, get pumped up because ... the High School Musical 2 website is NOW officially open!! On the new site, not only can you print your very own HSM2 poster, but also you can click on each actor's name, which will take you to their exclusive DRESSING ROOM where you can read their biographies, take fun quizes, and see exclusive HSM2 behind-the-scenes videos and never-seen-before photos! You can also decorate your computer by downloading exclusive autographed wallpapers! You can also read their blogs, and e-mail your favourite stars! If you guys haven't seen this movie before, you best watch it now!! I saw it the day I graduated high school, and it had really calmed my anxiety about transitioning through life. Four years later, I'm about to graduate from college, and this movie still holds a dear place in my heart. PLUS, they filmed it in the la citta d'amore (the city of love)... aka ROME, which also is special to me. So watch it tonight!! And for the complete Disney Channel TV listing, click here!

Stars Get Starstruck Too!

Hey guys-

Busy day today, so let's get to it! ... Just two days ago, Ashley Tisdale posted a new video on her youtube site. I just thought it was SO CUTE, I had to post it... because just like how you and I might FREAK OUT upon hearing that we'd be meeting one of our own idols... Ashley was just the same when she received a SURPRISE meeting with Jessica Simpson. Yeah, I know it sounds a little bit silly for her to go all crazy over JESSICA, but as much as I'd hate to admit it... but I'd probably act the same exact way if I found out I were to meet Ashley! haha... so check it out!

I love how Ashley keeps her fans up to date via video posts on her youtube account... I was thinking about doing the same thing (cause I'm vain like that... not)... but then my boyfriend pointed out that 1. I don't have her celebrity ... and 2. WHO would actually want to watch it? ... so I decided to scrap the idea... but hey, you never know- you might actually see an entire post done through video one day! haha :D

On Sunday, May 14th, Aly and AJ celebrated their 18th and 16th birthdays by throwing one HUGE party!! (Which is kind of weird... cause Aly's birthday is on March 25th... and AJ's is on April 10th..) But anyhoo, here are a couple of pictures from the bash!

(Yup! That's Brenda Song *London Tipton from Suite Life* in the middle... isn't it crazy how short she is?? ... but then again... she's Asian! haha *And no, I'm not poking fun- I'm Asian too... at 5'3''!!*)

In more Aly and AJ news... their newest single, Potential Breakup Song premiered on Radio Disney last friday (May 12th)! It is their first single off of their newest album, INSOMNIATIC which hits stores JULY 10th. You can pre-order it from amazon.com by clicking HERE! AND... You can preview the song by visiting their myspace profile, OR... you can download a (complete) radio rip of it by clicking HERE!

Here's something cute from justjared.com: Zanessa share clothes!! Here's a picture of Zac wearing a striped shirt at a Q&A for Hairspray in January... and here's the same shirt on Vanessa recently in Buenos Aires! ... awww- isn't that so cute??

[source]

In other news, an extremely personal, undisclosed inside source tells me that artists for Pixar visited the San Francisco Ballet last weekend to sketch the ballerinas there! Now why would they do that? Would it be because their next project might POSSIBLY be about, or include, ballerinas? (This is all speculation!) ... But, if you need to study the art of ballerinas... why not go to the SFB? Afterall, they ARE THE BEST!

For all of you who don't know, DISNEYLAND is opening its Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage on June 11th! Click on the photo below for more information!

Here's something quite funny.. Disney is releasing it's very first CHINESE-LANGUAGED film!! I was really excited when I read this headline ('cause I'm Chinese, and having a Disney film in my parents' language would be pretty cool)... but then I read the entire article and realized that noooo, if Disney's gonna have a Chinese speaking film, it can't be actual Chinese people... they have to be ANIMATED, TALKING VEGETABLES!! Like a VeggieTales type thing... GRRR. It's going to be called The White Gourd, which is funny 'cause I had just finished my white-gourd-juicebox when I read the article. Anyhoo, when I have more time, I'd like to go into more detail about my thoughts on Disney and stereotypes (but more on that later!)

IMAGINEER THAT!

Hey guys-

The post is going to be short today, I've got a huge essay due tomorrow (which, at the moment, I'm trying to get my teacher to let me write it on Beauty and the Beast instead of another horror movie, like Halloween... *yeah, yeah... I know B&TB isn't a horror movie but...* we're supposed to write about feminism, and "when the woman looks")... but anyhoo, let's get to it!

Blogger, Paleo-Future, has discovered that Walt Disney might not have been the first one to coin the term, "Imagineering".

"I had always assumed that someone at Disney had coined the term "Imagineering," until I came across an article from the May 2, 1947 Portsmouth Times (Portsmouth, Ohio) titled, "Black Light Magic." The article describes the work of Arthur C. Radebaugh and the caption to the picture above uses the term "Imagineering."

[wikipedia states:] 'WED Enterprises applied for a trademark for the term in 1967, claiming first use in 1962.'

After doing some further research the earliest mention of the word I was able to find was in an Alabama newspaper from 1942."

[source]

I find this extremely upsetting because I always enjoy the Disney Channel's television slots when different Disney Channel stars would do creative and artistic things, and end with.. "You, me, and Disney Channel- Imagineer that!"

In other news, Disney has sent slashfilm.com THIRTEEN new promo photos from the new movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End!!

Click on the photo below to go to the site and check out the rest of them!

IF YOU'RE A HUGE FAN OF DONALD DUCK... you DO NOT want to miss this!! ... someone on ebay.com is selling his ENTIRE Donald Duck collection which consists of 1,200 UNIQUE Donald Duck collectibles... some dating all the way back to 1934!!

10% of the proceeds will go to The American Red Cross... the auction ends in FOUR days (May 20th, 7:27 PM)... click on the picture below to START BIDDING!!

Not to give in to stereotypes... but one thing I think about when I think about Japanese pop culture is... Hello Kitty. You know, the whole Japanese-school-girl's obession with CUTE THINGS! Well, according to a recent survey on whatjapanthinks.com... TWO other characters actually BEAT OUT their beloved HELLO KITTY.. making her number THREE on the "Japan's Cutest Character" list!

That's right, Disney fans... our very own Mickey Mouse took the second spot... and POOH BEAR was rated at NUMBER ONE!

This Is A Public Service Announcement...

Seriously, kids- DRINK UP!! You need the calcium in the milk for your bones, nails, teeth, and overall wellness! Remember... MILK: IT DOES A BODY GOOD!

Keep Moving Forward

Hey guys-

I've been EXTREMELY busy lately (finals are coming up, huge term papers are due, and I'm working on my Disney applications!) ...so I might not have enough time to post DAILY for the next couple of weeks, but I'll try my best to keep updating when important Disney news pops up.. (but lately, it's all been quite slow)... but don't fret! I definitely WILL keep you updated when the news starts picking up! :)

Lately, I've been reading books on Disney... especially this biography written about Walt Disney. It's extremely interesting so far and a fairly easy read! Click on the photo below for your very own copy from amazon.com!

If you still haven't seen Meet The Robinsons yet, I recommend going to see it before it leaves the theatres!! I've been thinking about it a lot lately, and it is quite an innovative movie. Okay, yes, it does have its little cheesy/quirky Disney parts, but overall, I believe there's a powerful and encouraging message that can be applied not only to the Disney company, but also to our everyday lives.

“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
- Walt Disney

Also, I re-watched FANTASIA earlier today just to relax, and I completely FORGOT how brilliant it is!! Disney is a genius... the way the animation went along with the music was executed PERFECTLY! And the narrator/conductor breaks were extremely interesting (in a way, you could consider it somewhat of a DVD commentary), and the animation itself was uniquely fresh and revolutionary. If you haven't seen it yet- GO RENT/eBay IT!! End of story.

Earlier this afternoon, my boyfriend was reading my Complete Disney Encyclopedia from A to Z and was "quizzing" me on my Disney knowledge. I got most of his questions right, but one thing I was HOPING he wouldn't ask me is.. "What's the Prince's name from Snow White?" ... because I know Prince Eric is from The Little Mermaid, Prince Phillip is from Sleeping Beauty... and Prince Charming is from Cinderella... but when I thought about Snow White... the only name that came to my mind was ... PRINCE CHARMING... but in TWO movies?! There is also a comic called FABLES that is a story about fairytale characters living in modern day New York (you should check it out!) ... and the character, Prince Charming is a play-boy who is divorced from all three Cinderella, Snow White, and Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty)... but I never actually thought about it until now.

So like a normal human being looking for answers, I looked it up on wikipedia... and THIS is what I found. It is a common belief in our society that PRINCE CHARMING is the prince in ALL THREE Disney movies (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella). HOWEVER... Sleeping Beauty's prince is, in fact, Prince Phillip... and Cinderella and Snow White... ? Well... their princes have NO NAMES!! ... Well, okay, Snow White's prince is simply called "THE PRINCE"... but as for Cinderella's knight in shining armor:

"It should be noted that Cinderella's prince is never actually identified in the film as "Prince Charming," nor is there any clear reason why he has come to be known by that title in the Disney vernacular. He is not even described in the script as being particularly charming; that designation went to Snow White's beloved, as illustrated by the line "Anyone could see that the prince was charming, the only one for me."

... I know... WHAT?!!? ... oh well... he'll always be known as Prince Charming to me! ALSO, question #31 under "Disney History" on the actual Disney website "CLAIMS" his name is actually Prince Charming... hmmm... interrrrresting...

OH YEAH! And just to complete the Princess club (and for those of you who don't know)... Belle's prince has no "real" name- as a beast, and when he turns back into a human, he is always known as BEAST (or, "The Beast/ The Prince").
